Overnight care for your dogs.

Whether you're going away on vacation, out of town for business or a weekend away, Radford Retrievers is here to make sure your pooch is well taken care of while you're away.  

The dogs staying with us will stay in a nice warm home where they'll be treated like one of the family. Your dog will receive:
  1. Other dogs to play with
  2. A warm, cozy, safe place to sleep at night because all the dogs stay in the house.
  3. Plenty of fresh air, exercise and play time in a fully fenced yard.
  4. Occasional off leash trail time (if dog is reliable)
  5. No shortage of love and attention

Before we will accept your dog for overnight care, we must first meet them at our home.  They must also meet our dogs.  It is very important that all get along.

All dogs must meet the following criteria

  1. Over 3 months of age.
  2. Proof of vaccinations - Current Bordetella, Rabies.  Current shots or titer testing of Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluena, Parvovirus
  3. Must be non-aggressive
  4. Totally house trained
  5. Does not jump fences
  6. Can be walked on Leash
  7. No females in season
  8. Get along with my dogs
  9. Does not have fleas or any other parasites.
  10. Is not ill
  11. Is not obsessed with cats.  (we have one who gets along with dogs)

What you need to bring with your dog:

  1. Food and food dish
  2. Favourite toy if needed (we have lots)
  3. Bed - if the dog sleeps in a crate bring it.
  4. Collar  ( prefer no choke chains unless that's all you have)
  5. Leash
  6. Emergency contact information
  7. Vet contact information

Your dog will be treated the same as we treat our dogs.  Lots of love and affection (and a little spoiling).  Do let us know of any do's and don'ts.  ie:  dog is not allowed on furniture, dog must sit at door before it is opened etc.   We want the dog to feel at home and we want you to feel that what you have trained will be followed.   

About us:

Both my husband and myself are experienced dog care givers.  We owned and operated Paws Ahead Doggy Daycare and K-9 Sports Centre for 10 years.  We took care of up to 25 dogs a day in our indoor facility in Burnaby and offered agility classes in the evening 5 nights a week, twice a night.    We also did overnight care for our current clients when requested.  I am currently involved in obedience, agility and hunt training and competition.   We believe in operant conditioning/clicker training.  We do not use harsh corrections.  We do believe in rules and well behaved dogs.  We currently have 2 Flat Coated Retrievers and 1 very old mini dachshund.  And yes, ours are a bit spoiled, after all they are our family.  Roxanne has been trained in K-9 first aid.

Don't hesitate to ask us anything about your dogs stay with us.  We want you and your dog to feel comfortable.
